First lengthening and beginning of physiotherapy

It has been a full day.  We have begun lengthening Maria's femur today.  It will be .75 milimeters a day for a few weeks, then we will have an X-ray to see if new bone has been generated and to decide whether to keep it at that rate or up it to 1 mm daily.  We have also begun with physiotherapy, two sessions at home, and one at the hospital, daily,  about 45 min. each.  The hardest part is that we need to get Maria's need to flex 90 degrees, and today she made it to 88 degrees.  At 90 degrees the knee is considered functional, to ride a bike 110, and fully functional, 135 degrees.  This exercise was very painful for her ( and her parents who were with her!) but it was passing.  In five minutes, she was back to normal.
Nevertheless, I find her stamina amazing.

Our life here is taking form, the house is comfortable, and we are back to our old haunts, especially the library, which is amazing.  Icho has been teaching the girls how to play tennis, which has its merits considering the heat and humidity!  It has rained (poured!) every afternoon, but we still have been able to use the pool.  Icho has published some new pics of the girls in his latest entry, I think you'll enjoy them!
