First Days in West Palm Beach - Primeros Días en West Palm Beach 

Después de un viaje agotador con todo tipo de incidencias (a Diana le tiraron encima una coca-cola en el avión y desde ese momento nos dieron tratamiento de Business, un perro antidroga nos descubrió una manzana en una mochila y casi acabamos en Guantánamo, nos dieron un coche en Hertz que no estaba registrado en su base de datos y lo tuvimos que cambiar media hora después...) llegamos sanos y salvos a WPB. Hemos alquilado un apartamento en el downtown de la ciudad (en una zona llamada CityPlace), a 10 minutos del hospital y cerca de restaurantes, museos, cine... El apartamento además tiene piscina y gimnasio y es una monada. 

El viernes tuvimos consulta con el Dr Paley y la vio muy bien, se quedó sorprendido con la movilidad que tenía (gracias María Nogueira y Paula Camarero). El plan esta vez es corregir la inestabilidad del tobillo y alargar el femur, ya que actualmente tiene una discrepancia de 11,8 cm. El lunes es fiesta aquí en EEUU, así que el preoperatorio será el martes y la cirugía el miércoles. 

Durante la visita a la clínica tuvimos la oportunidad de ver a nuestras grandes amigas Caroline Eaton (responsable del trato con pacientes) y Fran Guardo (jefa de fisioterapia). Tenemos ganas de pasar tiempo con ellas durante la estancia. 

Por lo demás, nos hemos dedicado a ir de tiendas (chollazos en los outlets), comprar comida (las visitas a Publix son ya históricas) y visitar las playas de Palm Beach Island que son preciosas. Las mansiones de la zona nos dejaron impresionados, aquí tienen casa todas las grandes fortunas de EEUU como los Kennedy. Todavía no ha empezado a apretar el calor y se puede pasear sin problemas así que estamos aprovechando a tope.

PD: María quería que os contara que fuimos con Morata y su mujer en el avión (en clases diferentes, obviamente, les vimos en el control de pasaportes).

After an exhausting trip with all kinds of incidents (Diana had a coke spilled on her on the plane and from that moment we received Business treatment, an anti-drug dog discovered an apple in our backpack and we almost ended up in Guantanamo, they gave us a car in Hertz that was not registered in their database and we had to change it half an hour later ...) we arrived safely at WPB. We have rented an apartment in the downtown area (in an area called CityPlace), 10 minutes from the hospital and close to restaurants, museums, movies ... The apartment also has a pool and gym and it is very cute.

On Friday we had an appointment with Dr Paley and he said she looked great, he was surprised with the mobility he had (thanks to our therapists María Nogueira and Paula Camarero). The plan this time is to correct the instability of the ankle and lengthen the femur, since it currently has a discrepancy of 11.8 cm. Monday is a holiday here in the US, so the preoperative will be on Tuesday and surgery on Wednesday. 

During the visit to the clinic we had the opportunity to see our great friends Caroline Eaton (responsible for dealing with patients) and Fran Guardo (head of physiotherapy). We look forward to spending time with them during the stay.



For the rest fo the time, we have dedicated ourselves to going shopping (bargains in the outlets), buying food (visits to Publix are already historic) and visiting the beaches of Palm Beach Island that are beautiful. We are very impressed by the mansions here, here all the great fortunes of the USA like the Kennedys have a house here. It is still not too hot so we are taking full advantage to walk around the city.
